Michael Francis Williams

Michael is a British filmmaker whose narrative work focuses on unique stories of culture, identity and giving voice to marginalized figures. He recently wrote and directed “Mila” for NOWNESS’ Black Star series and “Stay Woke”, an editorial short for Afropunk, which premiered at Venice Bienalle. This fall marks his TV directing debut with the launch of OWN’s David Makes Man, written by Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight) and executive produced by Oprah and Michael B. Jordan. Michael’s pilot, starring Phylicia Rashad, premiered at SXSW to rave reviews and was featured by Hollywood Reporter as part of its Best of SXSW 2019.

Michael is also a celebrated commercials helmer whose work spans from campaigns for Nike and Adidas and live events for Puma to intimate performance work for Sony. With a distinctive voice and keen visual sensibilities, he has shot ads with elite athletes and celebrities such as David Beckham, Lionel Messi and Richard Branson. He is collaborating with British D&B music legend, DJ Krust, to create a new single and companion art film called “Anti-Gravity Love”, which will release later this year.
