Biography

Chris grew up in Manchester and followed an academic route, studying languages at Oxford. He left before the end of the course on realising that he wanted to study graphic design and experiment with cameras. He went on to do an Art Foundation course at Salford University where he had a fantastic time experimenting with all sorts of new and unfamiliar media and began to learn about film-making by making a short documentary about Blackpool.

Only in his final year at college did Chris really concentrate on making moving image stuff. He entered the Kodak Student Commercial Awards with a test commercial for Nicquitin CQ made with friends. It won the editing category and came second in the brief. As a result, they were invited to enter Kodak’s Promo Academy and won Best Video for the stop frame wonder “Shake” by Pink Grease.

After college, Chris became a runner in Soho and continued to make animation and music videos, in particular for his housemate; the imminent "rock-god" Tom Vek. He also directed a sting for E4 involving turntabalism with roundabouts, which was reworked in 2006 as a viral for Pro X Fade, and has thus far received over a million downloads online.

Partizan saw one of Chris's Tom Vek videos and immediately signed him up, in the autumn of 2004. Since then it’s been non-stop, with a constant flow of promos (for the likes of Maximo Park, Lady Sovereign, The Guillemots, John Cale and Little Barrie) and a Music Week CAD Best New Director award in 2005 in the UK. Chris's hugely accomplished video for LCD Soundsystem's 'Daft Punk is Playing at my House' was itself nominated for a Best Electronic Video award at the CADs in 2005.

In the same year, he directed his first commercial campaign: for BBC Radio 1. The two spots, featuring 'Chris Moyles' and 'Zane Lowe' for Fallon London, were received with great critical acclaim.
Chris has gone on to direct commercials for LG and Asics.
