Tasked with creating an installation to represent the undulating form of the Reebok Zig Tech sole, the approach was to give visual expression to the transfer of energy.
The concept centered around representing the kinetic energy that is core to the technological benefit of ZigTech, by creating an interactive installation that responds to people’s movement as they walk within the space. A grid of natural water reeds was suspended from the ceiling and, in its passive state, was static.
By tracking visitors’ movement via an infra-red camera, the installation translated that energy through a series of fans which gave motion to the reeds, emulating the effect of wind blowing through their natural environment, creating a wave of movement along the piece.
